MBCA MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS
In a couple of months, we should see the new National MBCA website, which is part of the "rebranding" effort that is being undertaken to freshen up our image, and hopefully boost membership in the national club. After a couple of years where many sections lost members, I have a national membership report that shows many of our sections are now growing again. In the last year, the Wisconsin section has added 3% more members as our number went from 276 to 284, May 2009 to May 2010. My last check of the real time number was 288, as we crossed into June. Of the 86 total sections in the national club, roughly 52% of them had increases. This is encouraging news for all the sections.
PAST EVENTS
On June 5th, we had a great Drive 'n' Dine at Roma's Ristorante in East Troy. Christine and Bernd Kampe planned lunch and a trip afterward to the Elegant Farmer via the East Troy Trolley Line. About 22 people attended the excellent lunch, and about a dozen took the Trolley ride, while several of us hit the Old Time ice cream parlor for dessert. Thanks to Christine and Bernd for a nice event.
On May 22nd, Nancy Pearson and Bill Sirny hosted our Autocross/Defensive Driving event at State Fair Park. Thirty of us went through some car control, braking, and lane change exercises in the morning session, after a chalk talk by Frank and Mary Alice Cozza. After lunch, the Autocross course was setup, and participants got to put their skills into action to beat the clock. Sixteen trophies were awarded at days end, along with Defensive Driving certificates to all participants. Thanks to Nancy and Bill for a year's worth of hard work organizing, planning, and executing a flawless regional event. And Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped with course maintenance and the timing and scoring. We had an excellent facility this year, and perfect weather, which added up to a great day of sporty driving.
NEW ADVERTISERS
In the last several months, the Badger Star has added two new advertisers:
This month we're adding two more advertisers:
Please use these businesses for your automotive needs, and do tell them you saw their ad in the Badger Star. They want to know that their advertising is doing a job for them, and the revenue directly benefits each and every one of us as club members.
Thanks much to all the advertisers for supporting our club.
