We have an assignment for each member of this club.....the National club, MBCA, and our club, MBCA-WI, both request that each of you members log into the new National website as members, and update your accounts. If you've never logged into the new website as a member using your membership number, please do it soon. It is quick and easy, and you can choose your own password, and most important, make sure your e-mail address is correct and added to your personal data. The National club is going to make a major effort in the future to use more electronic communications to contact members, and so it is necessary to have everyone's data be complete and correct.
Your section is also going to use more electronic communications with regard to the Badger Star newsletter. And we will get all of your e-mail addresses from the MBCA database (our club roster). The major expense that we have as a club is the production of the bi-monthly newsletter, which is a requirement of every MBCA section. The printing, folding, stuffing, paper and postage that the club pays for every other month amounts to approximately greater than $400. That's about $2700 per year to produce and mail out 320 to 330 copies every other month, mailed to all of our members, the surrounding sections, and several officers of the national club. To reduce this cost, we will cut down on the number of paper copies we process as much as possible. There are members who do not own computers, and they will still receive a paper copy in the mail, but if at all possible we need members to give us a current e-mail address (home or work will do), so we can cut this high cost to the club.
In addition, we are building a new club website which has several advantages over the previous one. The new website should be complete by the 4th of July. The new website will be editable by several people (not just the webmaster), and it will allow us to post information faster and easier, and it will be more of a one-stop-shop for club information. The Badger Star will continue to be posted on the website (in PDF format), and those who are receiving the newsletter by e-mail will actually be receiving a link to the PDF file on the website. You will be able to access the latest newsletter (and any previous ones) on the website, and you can print out any and all pages on your computer printer that interest you.
Another advantage of the new website will be an expanded Events Listing, with room for events from other sections and other parties who have notified us for our possible participation. We also have a separate section for Drive to Dine events, and this should make things easier for us when looking up events and information pertaining to events.
Don't forget the club Golf Outing at Songbird Hills on June 28th. The teams play best ball, which is a lot of fun for everyone, even the bad golfers who seem to get in some nice drives and putts. And there are several prizes to be had for the longest drive, the longest putt, etc. Your 40 bucks will get you 9 holes of Golf, a golf cart, a meal after the game, 2 drinks from the club car, door prizes, a chance at the aforementioned prizes, and all the fun you can endure. Songbird Hills is a challenging course, which will make your game that much more satisfying if you can master it. See you there.
On July 15th, International Motors is hosting a Technical Session, so check the flyer for more details. You can enjoy some good food and drink, and take a look at the new GLK and the new 2010 E-class Mercedes which will be on display for us. See you there too.
